What to Know About American Football (part 3)

Rules and time of competition

A team only scores when the player of the team is able to place the ball behind the goal line. Then, kicking a goal from a distance of 3 yards will add 1 point or make a touchdown from a distance of 3 yards will get 2 points. The free kick succeeds 3 points when the ball goes over two vertical columns into the crossbar. Players take turns to attack and defend. The attacking team is allowed to make 4 turns to get the ball to go up 10 yards. If the score cannot be scored during that attack then the other team has the ball. Each time the right to change is changed, all 22 players of the two teams will be substituted. The team that loses the ball will replace all defensive players, while the previous defensive team will replace the attacking team.

The playing time for each match is 60 minutes long, divided into 4 rounds, except the downtime (out of play), so sometimes the total time played on the field is up to 180 minutes. The ball is made of leather, weighs 400 grams, oval, 2 white lines to look good but not in the NFL. Referees are also known as Zebras because of their white uniform and black stripes. Each match has 4 to 7 referees on duty.

NFL and Super Bowl

The Super Bowel has been the annual National Football League championship match since 1967 and is usually held on the first Sunday of February of the calendar year, called the Super Bowl Sunday.

The winning team receives the Vince Lombardi Tophy. This cup is made exclusively by Tiffany & Co for $ 25,000. At the end of the match, Most Valuable Player will be selected and awarded Pete-Rozelle Cup, named after former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle. The members of the winning team will receive rings made of gold and diamonds, called Super Bowl rings.

For most of the past years, the Super Bowl is the most watched program of US television broadcasts. The Super Bowl Sunday of the Super Bowl is not only one of the biggest sporting events but is now considered de facto as the national holiday of the United States.
